This project aims to address several scientific and technological challenges towards the use of shuttle drones to perform launch and capture maneuvers of other vehicles or objects. A first scenario is considered where the shuttle drones cooperate with the vehicles to be launched or captured, either relaying information about their planned motion or actively synchronizing.
The EU-funded i4Q project will develop a Reliable Industrial Data Services (RIDS) solution based on the Internet of things (IoT). This is a complete suite based on 22 i4Q solutions that can manage a large amount of industrial data.
ICU4Covid will deploy and test the a Cyber-Physical System for Telemedicine and Intensive Care at large-scale, in 4+4 Intensive Care Unit Hubs in Europe (4 from initial consortium and 4 selected by an Open Call), involving more than 30000 patients/year with a coverage of approximately 60 Million citizens.
SOLSTICE answers the quest for stationary energy storage with two Na-Zn molten salt batteries, which operate at elevated temperature. The first concept benefits from the existing and successful ZEBRA® technology. Replacing their Ni-electrode by cheap and abundant Zn will only minimally affect other system parts thereby ensuring fast commercialisation.
Social Innovation and TEchnologies for sustainable growth through participative cultural TOURism (TExTOUR)
TExTOUR uses ICTs and social innovation tools to work with 8 Cultural Tourism Pilots in less known areas to conceive and design collaborative work methodologies for the development of CT strategies for their sites. Each pilot sets up Labs Communities, composed of a wide range of stakeholders with a relevant role in the development of CT sector.
The rising decentralization of the energy system is unveiling an enormous opportunity for energy stakeholders to leverage on big data & AI technologies to improve decision making. There are however some barriers hampering the exploitation of this potential, such as the lack of standardized big data architectures for smart grids and regulatory frameworks not enabling data sharing.
The EU-funded VesselAI project plans to develop a framework that facilitates the modelling and prediction of ships’ behaviour. Using digital twin technology, the framework will efficiently fuse and assimilate huge amounts of data, enabling highly accurate modelling as well as design and operation optimisation of ships and fleets under various dynamic conditions.
The EU-funded SYNERGY project will boost the scientific and technical capacity of Portuguese institutions in the domain of energy harvesting and micropower management. The project will encourage scientific excellence, leading to the establishment of new self-powered smart platforms entirely compatible with Portuguese institutions.
Home to more than 2 200 inhabited islands, the EU is committed to facilitating their clean energy transition. A long-term framework can ensure the islands are able to generate their own sustainable, low-cost energy. The EU-funded IANOS project is working in this direction starting from the islands of Terceira (Azores),Ameland (Netherlands),Lampedusa (Italy),Bora Bora (France) and Nisyros (Greece).
FOXES project will develop a clean, compact, low-cost and scalable high-energy density solution for powering IoT devices such as wireless sensor nodes. More specifically, the proposed system will combine a high-efficiency solar cell with a multilayer capacitor and an energy management circuit, minimising the use of harmful materials and improving recyclability and end-of-life disposability.
