An special remark has to be made to the participation of CIMRU, representing the SCM+ project, at the exhibition of the Ministerial Conference "Research Partnerships for sustainable development" held in Leiden in Holland on the 11th of March 1997. This involved exhibiting posters informing visitors of the project. The SCM+ leaflets were handed out also. Details of the project and its work were highlighted as requested by many visitors to the SCM+ stand. Since taking part in this exhibition CIMRU has been contacted by the African Development Fund about joining our research for supply chain management in the food industry.

A representative group of the consortium attented to this meeting. Four presentations were made: SCM+ Project Status Overview (Prof. L.M. Camarinha-Matos); Supply Chain in Tomato and Olive Industries (Prof. R. Carelli, Virtual Enterprise in the Central America: the Dairy Industry (Prof. I. Mazón) and Logistics in Food Industry: A case study ( Prof. F. Negreiros Gomes.
