- The Japanese initiative SCADEC: Its future plan -

This session will focus the Japanese initiative SCADEC and will be presented by Dr. Takeya Isobe. The presentation will take about one hour


- IFC and STEP in building and related industries -

IFC and STEP in building and related industries workshop will be held on the 25th September in the conference venue. This event follows the last one devoted to STEP held in Tokyo in 1998, with approximately 100 attendants from academia and industry. Representatives from Japan, Europe and USA are expected to participate as Invited Speakers to present their ongoing activities.

This workshop has a joint organisation with EAPPM (European Association for Product and Process Modelling in B&C), CTIE (Japan), Ministry of Construction of Japan, IAI (German chapter), EuroSTEP (Germany), AEC3 (UK) and UNINOVA (Portugal).


The funStep project was a R&D project partially funded by the European Commission under the ESPRIT programme. The funStep project started in September 1996, and it was the first international project working in the application of the STEP standard to the furniture industry, and the origin of the funStep Interest Group and all the related initiatives, now with more than 130 members.

This workshop will address the experience close to the industry of funStep and its related activities close to industry, ISO and CEN/ISSS. For more information see http://www.funstep.org.


Sessions on Industrial Applications and Case Studies

During Monday and Tuesday there are several sessions focused on selected industry case studies and invited EC-funded product and process modelling related projects.

Research, expertise and technology transfer to industry and identification of gaps, needs and requirements from industry are the main objective of these sessions.
