Conference aims
The Architecture, Engineering and Construction (A/E/C) industry is on the edge of the information society. This conference aims to help the A/E/C and related industries, e.g. architecture and furniture, become a fully-fledged member of the information society by showcasing the benefits of appropriate IT-based product and process modelling.
This conference draws on the experience of researchers, the industry and international initiatives to highlight the steps required for successful re-engineering and integration of this industry.
The industry, research, and EC project tracks at this conference will provide a forum for these views to be analysed, presented and discussed. These aims will be complemented with special sessions during the Workshop, devoted to IFC and STEP, and the Industry Day, where real industry cases and needs will be presented and discussed.
Scope
This conference will bring together researchers, developers, implementers and end-users actively involved in the development of practical and theoretical approaches to product and process modelling in building and related industries.
The approaches discussed are expected to form the basis of future design, integration and management decision-making tools, including CAD, CADD and CIM, and to be a bridge between Research & Development and Industry.
The conference will also explore research issues and requirements related to the methodologies for all life cycle phases of buildings - from initial briefing, architectural and decoration matters, to demolition - as well as the information workflow inside and between companies organizations.
Contributions from research and development in product and process modelling applied in other industrial sectors are very welcome to this conference, though its results can stimulate technology transfer and enable news ideas and opportunities to Building and Construction related sectors.
