Main expertise and current areas of research

Professor Rolando is leader of the Manufacturing Group of the Mechanical Department of the University of Caxias do Sul, Brazil.

Main expertise is achieved in machining processes and in computer integrated manufacturing area. Current research areas cover: - mould and die manufacturing, intelligent manufacturing, virtual enterprises and virtual organisations. Future aims are expected to address knowledge management applied to VO/VE.

Current projects

 Virfebras: Virfebras (organização VIRtual de FErramentarias do BRASil) is a virtual organization that resulted from a research project between the University of Caxias do Sul (UCS), and nine mould and die industries. These companies, which have common market interests, decided to take part in the project with the purpose of learning how to build a cooperative environment using information technology as a means of communication.
