Acronym, Title, Brief description, Duration, URLCOSME – VIC ( COoperation of Small and Medium Enterprises - Virtual Industry Cluster): Design, development and management of a virtual industry cluster (industry network). The project includes the design and creation of the cluster, development of business process, methodologies and supporting technology for virtual industry cluster management. The project has created 7 industry clusters: casting, die and tools, CNC machining, metalworking, plastic and rubber, stamping and finishing processes. It includes 31 Mexican SMEs. Duration of the project: November 1999 - December 2002. (www.mexican-industry.com.mx). COSME – VEB (COoperation of Small and Medium Enterprises - Virtual Enterprise Broker): Design, development and management of a virtual enterprise broker. The project includes the definition of the business plan and incubation of the enterprise IECOS (Integration Engineering and COnstruction Systems). Design and definition of the business processes, methodologies and supporting technologies. Creation of 3 virtual enterprises to satisfy business opportunities related to new product development, engineering and construction service, new technology and commercialization. ). Duration of the project: August 2001 – December 2002. (www.iecos.com.mx) EE-Factory (Extended Enterprise – demonstration Factory): The
Extended Enterprise Demonstration Factory (EE-Factory) Program rises from
the necessity of developing a framework for research, education and
training on the concept of Extended Enterprise. In the every-day changing
manufacturing environment, for an effective decision-making, real-time
information from the enterprise, customers and suppliers is essential,
additionally, shop floor control and integration is required for an
adequate response to customers changing demand.
The EE - Factory program has been designed to demonstrate and
transfer this concept to the companies and to educate and train engineers.
Duration of the project: January
2002 – December 2003. (no URL available yet). Global e-Engineering (Global Collaborative Engineering Environment for Integrated Product Development using Internet 2). This
research will design and implement a Global Collaborative Engineering
Environment for Research and Education, named Global e-Engineering.
The environment will integrate Web-based Applications which will
support engineering activities for design and manufacturing of High Tech
products. In order to support
specific design activities CAD/CAM/CAE tools will be integrated; to
coordinate activities of design and manufacturing engineers, process
models, workflow and project management software will be used; to foster
the collaboration between engineers, net-meeting, forums, chats,
multicasting, e-mail and shared spaces applications will be included; and
for Information/Knowledge management, product and manufacturing models
will be developed. The testbed demonstration of the Global e-Engineering
environment will be carried out by offering a collaborative course between
UC - Berkeley and Tec de Monterrey during summer of 2002.
